Situational Awareness Fail: Concealed Carrier Robbed Of His Gun

Dean Weingarten, a contributor over at The Truth About Guns and the owner of Gun Watch, found a story of a concealed carrier who had a really bad day.

The incident happened around 9pm on Dec 22nd where the man, only identified as being in his 40’s, was walking in New Orleans when two thugs came up to him and struck him on the head with a gun. While the victim was on the ground, the two attackers frisked him and found his concealed carry firearm. They took it, along with other items, and took off.

Just imagine the horror that would go through your mind as someone was robbing you of your firearm that you were carrying.

Man, that’s a horrible situation to be in. Not only are you getting robbed, but your method of defense against the robbers is compromised because the carrier was caught off guard. It all comes down to situational awareness. If you aren’t aware of your surroundings at all times, that means your guard is down.

This isn’t the first time the carrier of a firearm has had his or her firearm stolen. Back in October, we reported on a young man who was open carrying late at night. While walking down the street, the man encountered an armed thug that stole his firearm from him at gunpoint.

What about you? Is your situational awareness up to par?
