Armed Clerk Dies In Shootout With 16-Year-Old Armed Robber, Who Also Doesn’t Survive The Encounter

VISALIA, CALIFORNIA — A fatal botched robbery at the EZ Mart Liquor Store in Visalia resulted in the deaths of a teenage boy and a 20-year-old clerk, as confirmed by local law enforcement. Police responded to reports of a shooting at the shopping center on Walnut Avenue and Giddings Street at around 11 p.m. Sunday.

Upon arrival, a 16-year-old boy was found critically injured in the parking lot and later succumbed to his wounds at Kaweah Health Medical Center. The clerk was found dead inside the store.

Preliminary investigations by the Violent Crimes detectives indicate the teenager attempted to rob the store, leading to a shootout between him and the clerk. While the identities of the deceased remain undisclosed, police suspect there may be additional individuals involved.
