DETROIT, MICHIGAN – The early morning hours of February 22nd saw two armed robbery suspects shot by their intended victims on Detroit’s east side, according to police.
DPD spokeswoman Latrice Crawford said that the first incident occurred around 12:40 a.m. at a BP gas station on the 2100 block of Gratiot Avenue. In that case, a 29-year-old man was pumping gas into his black Dodge Ram 1500 when a 30-year-old-armed man approached him and demanded his vehicle. The intended victim, who holds a concealed license permit, fired his gun at the man and the suspect fired back.
Both men were wounded, with the victim being shot in the leg. He was transported to a hospital by medics and is listed in temporary serious condition. The suspect fled on foot but was located and admitted to a hospital in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the buttocks.
Two hours later, around 2:40 a.m. on the 14200 block of Mack Avenue, a 43-year-old was outside of a building when a 35-year-old man approached and attempted to rob him. They two fought and then exchanged gunfire, leaving both men wounded. The victim was listed in temporary serious condition while the suspect was listed in critical condition.
Both cases are still under investigation and charges are pending against the alleged suspects.
