BELLINGHAM, WASHINGTON — An armed employee shot a man who police say was using a hammer to break a glass display case to gain access to some firearms on the other side.
The incident happened on the morning of January 28th at a sporting goods store. Police say that the man was warned multiple times to stop what he was doing, but continued.
That’s when an armed employee, carrying a concealed handgun, fired a single shot at the man.
He was shot in the chest and detained by store employees until paramedics came to take him to the hospital for treatment.
None of the employees were injured.
The armed employee told police that he feared for his life, and that’s what led to his decision to draw his firearm.
