Work Related Dispute Leads to Construction Worker Fatally Shooting Supervisor

PANAMA CITY, FLORIDA — A construction supervisor was shot and killed on the morning of October 27^th by a construction worker, following a work-related dispute between the two men.

911 calls reporting a shooting were received around 9:30 a.m., and were answered by the Panama City Police Department, Bay County Sheriff’s Department, Panama City Fire Department and Bay County EMS.  Bystanders pointed responders to an area behind a shopping plaza in the 600 block of West 23^rd Street.

The victim, Gordon McKinney, 55, of Taylorsville, Indiana was rushed to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.   The assailant, David Donaldson, 40, of Havana, was taken into custody without incident.   Investigators determined that Donaldson was an employee of a company that was subcontracted by the firm that employed McKinney. After an apparent disagreement over a work issue, Davidson used a gun to shoot McKinney. Davidson was charged with second-degree murder with a firearm and aggravated assault with a firearm.

Describing it as an active shooter scene, the PCPD expressed their appreciation to members of the sheriff’s department, fire department and EMS for responding immediately and without hesitation.

This is yet another example of a verbal dispute unnecessarily rising to the level of murder. As more and more people of all ages quickly turn to violence in even the simplest and most mundane disagreements, the murder rate in metropolitan areas across the United States soars to new highs. One can NEVER underestimate what another person is capable of, especially when involved in disputes that turn heated and/or physical.
