Gun Wins: Man Shot After Breaking Into House Armed With Golf Club

COOS BAY, OREGON — In the early hours of April 12th, a North Bend man named David Holmes, 28, was shot after he broke into a Coos Bay home wielding a golf club. The incident occurred around 12:55 a.m. at a residence on the 700 block of Johnson Avenue.

The homeowners promptly called 9-1-1, reporting the break-in and shooting, and requested immediate police and medical assistance. Upon arrival, Coos Bay Police Department officers secured the scene, detained Holmes, and provided initial medical care until paramedics arrived.

The residents cooperated fully during the investigation, revealing they did not previously know Holmes.

He was later transported to a hospital by Bay Cities Ambulance for further treatment.
