ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI — When a 24-year-old suspect thought he was going to score via armed robbery, he probably didn’t imagine that one of the two targets he chose was actually carrying a firearm of their own.
It happened Tuesday night when the intended victim was walking down the street from a gas station with another man. At some point, the suspect jumped out from between two vehicles parked on the street and announced a robbery.
The intended victim pulled his own weapon from his holster, police said. He fired several shots at the robber, hitting him three times.
The injured suspect was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds to his leg and torso. He was shot 3 times and is listed in critical condition.
Witnesses corroborated the target’s accounts of what went down, and it seems that this is clear-cut case of lawful self-defense.
This armed citizen was prepared to defend himself if such an occasion arose, and was able to do so successfully.
