MALTA, NY (5-minute read) — Authorities have identified the individual who was fatally shot in a mobile home park in Malta, in what is currently considered an act of self-defense. The deceased, Kurt M. Hubbard, 49, was a resident of the Locust Grove Motel in Malta, police stated.
The incident took place around 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Hubbard allegedly forced entry into a residence within the Northway Estates Mobile Home Park and assaulted one of the occupants. According to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, the intruder chased the resident into a bedroom, where the other occupants of the home had sought safety.
Faced with an immediate threat, one resident armed themselves with a shotgun and fired twice, resulting in Hubbard’s death.

The residents who were involved in the incident have been interviewed by police and have been released without charges.
