MIAMI, FLORIDA — In a tragic incident early Saturday in Doral City, Miami-Dade County, Florida, a shooting at a commercial venue resulted in two fatalities and seven injuries, including a police officer. The incident unfolded after a confrontation at a martini bar in CityPlace Doral escalated.

A security guard trying to deescalate the situation was fatally shot by one of the patrons, prompting an immediate response from two on-duty Doral Police officers present at the scene. The confrontation led to an exchange of gunfire, during which one officer was wounded in the leg but managed to neutralize the assailant.

The injured officer, who self-applied a tourniquet, is currently stable.

Six bystanders were also hit in the shooting, with two in critical condition. Multiple agencies, including the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Miami-Dade Police, are investigating the incident. Doral Police Chief Edwin Lopez highlighted the officers’ “heroic actions” in preventing further casualties and credited a recent active shooter drill for their preparedness.
