KILLINGLY, CONNECTICUT — The Inspector General’s Office is investigating a shooting incident involving a state trooper and an armed man in Killingly. On December 30th, around 1:20 p.m., a trooper identified a vehicle at a Mobil gas station in Dayville, linked to a person wanted for robbery. The driver, Ruben Muller, fled on foot when approached by Trooper Joseph Godbout.

After a chase and an unsuccessful attempt to immobilize Muller with a stun gun, the confrontation escalated near a Taco Bell driveway. Muller, who was hit by a truck that happened to be right in his path, drew a revolver from his ankle area as Godbout attempted to use the stun gun again. In response, Godbout shot Muller once in the chest.

Muller was subsequently given medical attention and transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts, for treatment.
