Walmart Customer Has ND While Bending Over, Sending Bullet Into Ceiling

LOCUST, NORTH CAROLINA — A recent incident at a Walmart in Locust highlighted the critical importance of using a proper holster for firearms. A shopper negligently discharged their firearm while bending over to pick up items, leading to a prompt police response to a “shots fired” call before 8:30 p.m. on a Saturday.

The revolver, inadequately secured in its holster, fell and fired a shot into the ceiling upon hitting the floor. Fortunately, there were no injuries, and the only damage was to the store’s property. The Locust Police Department clarified that the incident was accidental (negligent, actually), with no criminal intent involved. However, they anticipated charges for negligent discharge.

This event underscores the necessity of using appropriate holsters that ensure firearms are securely held and cannot be discharged. Such precautions are vital for public safety and the prevention of unintended harm or property damage.
