Man Fatally Shot By Teen After Holding Him At Knifepoint, Teen Facing Stolen Firearm Charges

GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA — A teenager faced charges following a fatal self-defense incident at Travelers Inn on Chalmers Road, as reported by the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office. The event occurred around 9:17 p.m. on Wednesday. Deputies, upon arrival, discovered 50-year-old John Parker with a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The investigation revealed that Parker had confronted the 16-year-old boy with a knife during a dispute at the motel. In response, the teenager, acting in self-defense, shot Parker with a handgun. The teen was subsequently charged for possessing a stolen firearm and was sent to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia.
