Washington: 10-Day Waiting Period On Gun Purchases Starts Tomorrow

Published

Starting January 1, Washington state will implement new gun laws, altering the process of firearm acquisition. The enactment follows a year of debate and preparation for the change.

The legislation, House Bill 1143, initiated by 18 state leaders, aims to curb ‘gun violence’. As the year concludes, these regulations are set to take effect.

The significant change is a mandatory 10-day waiting period for all gun purchases, including shotguns and pistols.

House Bill 1143 received leadership from State Representative Liz Berry and Senator Strom Peterson. Rep. Berry, who recently attended a White House event on Gun Violence Prevention.

Let’s hope this works, because outlawing murder hasn’t been working.
