19-Year-Old Shot Dead While Trying To Rob Concealed Carrier In Chicago

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — In West Town, Chicago, on Saturday afternoon, a 19-year-old man was fatally shot in an alley behind the 1700 block of West Cortez. The incident was reported to the Chicago Police Department at approximately 4:51 p.m. According to the police, the young man suffered a chest wound and was later pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital.

Initial investigations revealed that a 68-year-old man with a concealed carry permit claimed to have shot the 19-year-old in self-defense during an attempted armed robbery involving four individuals.

After the incident, the three other purported accomplices fled. The case is currently under investigation by Area Three Detectives to determine the specifics of the confrontation and the sequence of events.
