Homeowner Shoots Intruder Dead After Finding Him Inside His Living Room

KOKOMO, INDIANA — A homeowner fatally shot an intruder, identified as 51-year-old Scott Elliot Jones, on Sunday evening near East Jackson Street and North Purdum Street in Kokomo. The homeowner reported the incident to the police around 8:44 p.m., stating that he was awakened by Jones in his living room. While trying to get Jones to exit the property, the intruder allegedly assaulted the homeowner, leading him to use his firearm in self-defense. The homeowner sustained minor injuries during the altercation.

The Howard County Coroner’s Office is partaking in the ongoing investigation, and an autopsy for Jones is pending. Upon conclusion of the investigation, the findings will be presented to the Howard County Prosecutor’s Office for review. The police have urged anyone with relevant information to reach out to Detective Dustin Spicer at (765) 456-7194.
