Police Follow Trails Of Blood To Home Invasion Suspects After They’re Shot By Armed Resident

Published

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA — A failed home invasion in east Las Vegas at Crystal Court Apartments on Thursday night left one dead and another critically injured, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The crime was reported at 9:36 p.m. when officers stationed at a local gas station were approached by a man in his 30s seeking help for a gunshot wound. He was promptly attended to and transported to a hospital.

Upon tracing a blood trail to the apartment complex, the police found an empty second-floor apartment with obvious signs of a shooting. Following another blood trail, they discovered a second victim near an elevator, who was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Simultaneously, a resident of the complex was found injured on the sidewalk. He admitted to a shooting in his apartment and claimed to have jumped from the second floor. This man, who was medically attended to, has been cooperative with the investigation.

Initial investigations suggest the incident was an attempted home invasion by three individuals, with the injured resident being the one who defended himself. The shot individuals appear to be the culprits, with a potential third person still at large. The incident does not appear to be random.
