BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS — Jack Jones, the New England Patriots cornerback, was apprehended on Friday at Boston Logan International Airport after two loaded firearms were found in his carry-on baggage.
Massachusetts State Police reported the incident after the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) discovered the guns and ammunition in his luggage during a routine X-ray check. The TSA then informed the police about the situation.
Jones faces multiple charges, including possessing a concealed weapon in a secure airport area, owning ammunition without an identification card, illegal firearm possession, carrying a loaded firearm, and holding a large-capacity feeding device. According to Massachusetts law, a large-capacity magazine is one that holds over ten rounds of ammunition.
Initially set at $50,000, Jones’ bail was reduced to $30,000, which he promptly paid. He was subsequently released from custody and is set to be arraigned in East Boston District Court in the coming week.
The Patriots said in response to the incident, “We have been notified that Jack Jones was arrested at Logan Airport earlier yesterday. We are in the process of gathering more information and will not be commenting further at this time.”
