9 People, Including 4 Minors, Shot At Hollywood Florida Boardwalk

HOLLYWOOD, FLORIDA — On Monday afternoon, a shooting occurred at the Hollywood Broadwalk, leading to the injury of nine people, including four minors whose ages ranged from 1 to 17 years old. Adults involved in the incident were aged between 25 and 65 years. All victims were transported to local hospitals, with one requiring surgery.

The incident happened close to the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort, in the 1200 block of N. Broadwalk. According to authorities, an altercation between two groups escalated into a shooting. The police have detained a person of interest and are seeking a second individual.

Witnesses at the scene described chaotic scenes with people running for safety following the gunshots. One of the bystanders reported seeing a baby injured in the leg.

In response to the event, Hollywood Mayor Josh Levy thanked good Samaritans, medical professionals, and police for their immediate assistance to the victims.

Hollywood police are currently advising people to avoid the Hollywood Beach area, extending from Johnson to Garfield Street and the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk. A reunification area has been established at Johnson St. and N. Ocean bus loop.
