Home Intruder Shot, Killed After Allegedly Threatening Homeowner During Break-In

PHOENIX, ARIZONA — Phoenix police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred during a home invasion on Sunday, April 9.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting near 7th and Portland streets around 6:30 p.m. and discovered a man with a gunshot wound in a third-story bedroom, according to the Arizona Republic.

The man did not survive his injuries.

Initial information indicates that the intruder entered the home unlawfully and threatened the homeowner before being shot.

The homeowner called the police and stayed at the scene.

Sgt. Melissa Soliz, a spokesperson for the Phoenix police, stated that no arrests have been made as the investigation is still underway. Further details have not been released.
