Man Shot And Killed By Armed Citizen At Applebee’s After Fighting Multiple People

LADY LAKE, FLORIDA — A man was shot and killed early Wednesday morning at an Applebee’s after the restaurant had been closed. The incident began around 1 am when police say the man was fighting with people in the parking lot. Shots were fired, but it is unclear who fired the shots or why they were fired.

Shortly after, the man attempted to get into the main entrance of the restaurant, but was unsuccessful. During this time, employees were calling 911 and had locked the doors.

For unknown reasons, a person inside the restaurant let the man in through a side door. It wasn’t clear if that person was an employee or a customer.

Once inside, the man started another fight with someone else, and was then shot and killed by an armed customer who was still inside the building.

Police say the customer has a Florida concealed carry permit and was legally carrying his firearm.

The investigation is ongoing.
