BREAKING: South Carolina House Votes Overwhelmingly For Constitutional Carry

COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA — Literally two days ago, I had the pleasure of reporting that we’d keep you apprised of the potential developments concerning South Carolina’s fight for constitutional carry.

And, boy, do we have some development in this story.

The South Carolina House has overwhelmingly chosen to affirm a bill that would make constitutional carry effective in South Carolina.

That bill was passed by a vote of 90-30, and takes South Carolina a few yards closer to the constitutional carry end zone.

“This will open up options for families to protect themselves without a permit,” said Republican Rep. Bobby Cox according to ABC News.

“South Carolinians can still get the training they need. But they don’t need a permission slip to exercise that right.”

As one might imagine, the bill has some detractors.

Rep. Seth Rose said that “When you show up to a crime scene and everyone’s carrying guns on their hip, guess what, that’s dangerous… Law enforcement doesn’t know who the good guys are and the bad guys are. And a lot of times we don’t want good guys acting like law enforcement and making a bad situation worse,” according to ABC.

The bill has more to weather if it’s to become law. According to ABC, a similar attempt was made two years ago, and it was shot down in the Senate.

Currently, that Senate is comprised of 30 Republicans and 16 Democrats, according to the South Carolina State House website.

It will be interesting to see where things go from here, as multiple politicians have their eye on potentially becoming the 26th state in the union to permit constitutional carry.

And, since it’s apparently good luck to say this, we’ll keep you apprised of any developments.
