Son Shoots Father Dead In Apparent Self-Defensive Shooting

NORTH CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA — A man was found holding a firearm and another man dead in apparent self-defense shooting.

Timothy Riley was identified by the Charleston County Coroners office as the man shot in self-defense by his son. Officers arrived on scene after responding to an unrelated shooting down the road on South Kenwood, around 5:35pm. Police arrived and found the son holding a firearm and found his father laying on the ground dead.

During the initial investigation, police determined that the shooter was Mr. Riley’s son. Investigators believe that the shooting was done in self-defense.

The investigation is still ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time. The Ninth Circuit Solicitors office has been contacted as the investigation continues.
