Daycare Massacre In Thailand Leaves At Least 36 Dead, Including 24 Children

Published

NA KLANG, THAILAND — Police say at least 36 people were killed at a daycare center, including at least 24 children, by an ex-police officer who used a gun and knife during the attack.

The suspect was let go from his job a year prior over drug allegations, and was in court the morning of the attack. At some point, he went to the daycare center to find his child and when he couldn’t, he began the attack, according to police.

“He started shooting, slashing, killing children at the Uthai Sawan daycare centre,” police spokesperson Paisal Luesomboon said.

The children who were killed are said to be between the ages of 2 and 5, all of whom were stabbed during the attack.

After leaving the daycare center, the suspect headed to his house, killing anyone who was in his path.

“Then he got out and started killing anyone he met along the way with a gun or the knife until he got home. We surrounded his house and then found that he committed suicide in his home,” a police official said.

The suspect was said to be in legal possession of a 9mm handgun.

This is a developing story.
