Home Shooting Deemed Self-Defense, No Arrests Made

SALINA, KANSAS — Around 1am on March 23, 2022, Police officers in Salina, Kansas responded to a call reporting a shooting at a house near the 2200 block of Wesley Street.

Upon arrival, they found a 27-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. Investigators determined that a family argument broke out at the property, and upon the escalation of the argument, the man was shot. It is unclear if he was related to the shooter. However, it was determined that the shooting was justified in accordance with Kansas Statutes Annotated 21-5222, The Use of Force in defense of a person; no duty to retreat.

The man with the gunshot wounds was transported to a nearby hospital for his injuries, the incident is still under investigation, and no one has been charged or arrested.
