FRANKFORT, ILLINOIS – Two masked men walk into a bar but only one walked out after a customer opened fire on them as other bar patrons pleaded for their lives during an armed robbery.

The events unfolded around 3:15 a.m. at Ryan’s Pub, located at 7928 Lincoln Highway in suburban Frankfort. According to the Will County Sheriff’s Office, their deputies were dispatched to a reported armed robbery in progress. They stated that two Black male suspects entered the business armed with handguns and demanded money from patrons and employees at the business.

The suspects, who were wearing dark-colored clothing with latex gloves, masks, and hoods, told everyone inside that they would all be shot if their demands were not met. Victims told investigators that they pleaded for their lives when the suspects brandished the firearms.

However, one patron who had access to a firearm shot at the robbers multiple times, and one suspect was hit multiple times and later pronounced dead on the scene. Police have identified him but have not publicly released that information.

The other suspect ran from the pub and fled east on Lincoln Highway. The shooting occurred as the two were wrapping up the robbery, and it appears that the dead man had most of the take stuffed in his pants and pockets.

Authorities were able to recover the two guns that the suspect’s used to terrorize the employees and patrons, one near the deceased suspect and the other in the pub’s parking lot. Both were replica firearms, similar to airsoft guns.

Surveillance video of the incident supports statements that were given to investigators by victims and witnesses. There have not yet been any charges filed against anyone.
