GRAPHIC WARNING: Nine Phoenix Police Officers Shot After Responding To Shots Fired During Domestic Dispute

PHOENIX, ARIZONA — Police were responding to a shooting that ultimately led to an hours-long barricade and nine officers being shot. In addition, both the suspect and female victim were killed. Police received a call that a woman had been shot and when they got to the location, the suspect reportedly let the officers inside.

Once inside, the suspect opened fire and hit one of the officers multiple times.

Shortly after, additional officers were targeted. A man, who was no the suspect, placed a baby outside of the home.

“An adult male came to the door holding a baby, an infant,” Sgt. Williams said. “He placed an infant on the ground in front of the front door and then walked out towards the officers where they began detaining him. Other officers also moved in to secure that infant. At that time, the suspect opened fire on the officers again.”

Video captured by ONSCENE.TV shows the dramatic moments when the four officers were fired upon after they tried rescuing the infant that was left outside.

During this ambush, four officers were shot and another four were struck by ricocheted bullets or shrapnel. Officers fired back, not knowing if they hit the suspect or not.

When negotiations with the suspect failed, police entered the home again and found the suspect deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. The female victim was rushed to the hospital but did no survive.

Police believe the suspect and the woman were at some point in a relationship, and that the infant was their daughter. The infant was not injured during the incident.
