Woman Shot While Out Buying Diapers, Bystander Uses Shirt To Make Tourniquet

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK — A woman pushing her child in a stroller was shot in the leg by a stray bullet Thursday afternoon.

The unidentified woman didn’t know what happened at first, but then felt a pain in her leg.

A passerby then took off his coat, then the shirt off his back, and used the shirt to wrap a makeshift tourniquet around the woman’s leg.

Several people then worked to get her into a vehicle, and she was driven to the hospital by private means.
