Woman Shot In The Head By Neighbor Who Was Cleaning Gun Next Door

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA — A woman is dead after police say a neighbor had a accidental negligent discharge while cleaning their firearm next door.

The woman, identified as 47-year-old Jennifer Edelen, was at home with one of her four children. That child is the one who called police and alert them to what had happened.

When officers arrived, a neighbor told them that while they were cleaning their gun it accidentally discharged into the victim’s home, striking her in the head.

JSO said the gunfire was approximately 40 to 50 yards from where the victim was standing in the front room of her home on Jeb Stuart Lane.

These are terrible stories that should never be reality, because the 4 Rules of Firearm Safety should always be followed. When they are, things like this simply don’t happen.

A GoFundMe has been set up for the family.
