Midnight Taco Bell Run Propels Two Rocket Scientists Straight to Jail After They Fire Off Guns

PORTSMOUTH, OHIO – A pair of geniuses were arrested after discharging guns from their vehicle while waiting in the drive-thru line of a Taco Bell.  Portsmouth police initially received calls reporting shots fired just after midnight Monday in the 2500 block of Gallia Street.

Callers said the suspects had fired several rounds in the Taco Bell drive-thru line, then left in a blue truck heading north on Mabert Road. Dispatch then received additional calls of 5-10 shots being fired in the 1300 block of Mabert Road.

Officers located the truck and found several firearms, along with spent shell casings, live ammunition, and open containers of alcohol inside the passenger compartment. The two occupants, identified as Nolan Harness-Cooper of Wheelersburg and William Crabtree of Lucasville, were arrested.

Nolan Harness-Cooper was charged with improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, using weapons while intoxicated, carrying concealed weapons, and having physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence.

William Crabtree was charged with improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, carrying concealed weapons, and using weapons while intoxicated.

Both suspects are currently being held in the Scioto County Jail, and additional charges will be considered once the cases are presented to the Scioto County Grand Jury.  Looks like it‘s a little too late for the dynamic duo of Harness-Cooper and Crabtree to make a run for the border.
