Man Fatally Shot After Forcing His Way Into Tigerland Apartment

BATON ROUGE – Police say that a man was fatally shot Thursday night after allegedly forcing his way into an apartment at 1315 Bob Pettit Boulevard. The Cambridge West Apartments complex is surrounded by a six-foot metal fence with access-controlled gates at the entrances. The exterior doors of the apartments face the centrally located parking area.

According to Baton Rouge police, the deceased suspect has been identified as 25-year-old Morris Harvey Jr.. They say that he forced his way into an apartment around midnight and was shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.  

Police detained the person responsible for the shooting for questioning, as well as several other witnesses to the incident. Their investigation into the death is ongoing.

The apartment complex is located in an area known as Tigerland, due to its proximity to Louisiana State University. It is not known if anyone involved in the incident is a student or staff member at LSU.
