Report Says Boulder Mass Shooting Suspect Was Known To FBI, Brother Of Suspect Says He Suffers From Mental Health Problems

The suspect in a grocery store mass shooting on Monday that took the lives of 10 people was known to the FBI, according to a recent report. That suspect is currently in custody and will be charged with 10 counts of first-degree murder.

[The Suspect], a 21-year-old from the Denver suburb of Arvada, was linked to another individual under investigation by the bureau, The New York Times reported Tuesday, citing law enforcement officials. No further details were reported.

He is said to have purchased the AR-15 rifle, used in the attack, a few days prior. There is no word if the gun was purchased legally.

One of the victims was an officer with the Boulder Police since 2010, Eric Talley. The other victims were identified as Denny Stong, 20; Neven Stanisic, 23; Rikki Olds, 25; Tralona Bartkowiak, 49; Suzanne Fountain, 59; Teri Leiker, 51; Kevin Mahoney, 61; Lynn Murray, 62, and Jody Waters, 65.

A motive for the attack has not yet been established.

The suspect’s brother told reporters that he was paranoid, anti-social and suffered from mental health problems.
