Man Gets Shot While Meeting Woman For 1st Date In Cemetery. Wait, What?

MONROE COUNTY, TENNESSEE — A man is lucky to be alive after being shot at multiple times after he went to a cemetery to meet a woman for a date.

To each their own, I guess.

According to Monroe County Deputy Jason Johnson, the victim said he went to Dehart Cemetery, also known as Holly Springs Baptist Church, to meet a woman for a date at around 8:30 p.m., the Advocate and Democrat reported.

While the victim waited in his 2000 Ford Expedition, [Keith] McJunkin allegedly came out of the woods near the cemetery and walked toward the vehicle. The victim said McJunkin leveled what appeared to be a .22-caliber rifle and fired three shots at the driver’s side window, the newspaper reported.

The man tried driving away but was shot at again, and ended up bailing on his vehicle and running into the woods.

He later asked his sister to go to the cemetery to get his car. When she arrived, it was on fire and missing some belongings. She managed to put the fire out and drive the car home.

So many questions, but my main one is this: Why would you send your sister to a place where someone was just shooting at you? Call me crazy, but I’d call the police instead, and not send a family member into harms way.

The lesson here? I don’t know. Don’t meet strangers in cemeteries?
