Jack Wilson, The Hero Who Stopped The Gunman In The Texas Church Shooting, Speaks Out

Sunday was a wild ride for everyone watching the events unfold at a church in Texas, where a gunman opened fire on parishioners, killing two and ultimately being shot and killed himself.

The quick response came from armed security at the church, all consisting of church members.

A video of the incident shows how everything unfolded, and it was nothing short of heroic with what the world witnessed.

The man who stopped the gunman, Jack Wilson, is a firearms instructor and has been training for situations such as this.

Today, he spoke publicly for the first time since the incident, posting to a Facebook page that he operates.

I just want to thank all who have sent their prayers and comments on the events of today. The events at West Freeway Church of Christ put me in a position that I would hope no one would have to be in, but evil exists and I had to take out an active shooter in church.

I’m thankful to GOD that I have been blessed with the ability and desire to serve him in the role of head of security at the church. I am very sad in the loss of two dear friends and brothers in CHRIST, but evil does exist in this world and I and other members are not going to allow evil to succeed. Please pray for all the members and their families in this time. Thank you for your prayers and understanding.

Wilson is said to be the one responsible for training the armed security at the church, as he owns a range and has the experience with firearms training.
