The world has been watching a terrible incident unfold at multiple locations in the city of Christchurch, New Zealand, where 49 people lost their lives at two mosques when a gunman walked in and opened fire.
A total of 4 people have been arrested by police in connection with the incident, and said at least one attacker is an Australian citizen. That person, who we will not identify, also allegedly posted an 87-page manifesto online, going into extreme detail as to why he carried out the attacks.
He also live-streamed the entire incident on Facebook, and the video spread quickly across the internet. Police are asking people to report any of the videos they find so that they can work to remove them, but let’s remember that the internet is forever.
Regarding the live video, we will not publish it here or link to it, as it has no place in a civilized society. This is not the norm, and it should not be seen by the public.
What we can do is give no place for such acts of violence. This particular incident was apparently carried out in an attempt to cause mass disruption across the world on numerous levels.
And since the suspects are all still alive, they’ll be able to see the effects of what they have done.
With that, I say no manifesto and no video. Let’s not give them the world stage that they are craving.
