Man Shot And Killed While Breaking Into Occupied Vehicle

MACON, GEORGIA — An investigation is underway by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office following the fatal shooting of 36-year-old Eric Ivan Searcy-Bryson early Tuesday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a shooting around 3 a.m. near the Riverview Hotel, where they discovered Searcy-Bryson with a fatal gunshot wound. It was reported that the incident occurred when Searcy-Bryson allegedly attempted to enter a Mercedes parked in the area and was shot by an occupant of the vehicle.

He was transported to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The authorities have not reported any other injuries from the incident.

The Sheriff’s Office is seeking information from the public and urges anyone with details to contact them directly or through the Macon Regional Crime Stoppers.
