NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR — A woman was shot and killed outside a residence in North Little rock, Arkansas, earlier this month, THV11 reports.
Although it is not immediately clear what transpired to make this happen, the authorities have a unique insight into this particular shooting — the entire thing was recording on a 911 call.
According to THV11:
On Friday, Oct. 19, at approximately 5:30 p.m. the owner of the residence at West Short 17th Street call 911 to advise that someone was attempting to break into the home.
As the 911 dispatcher was speaking with the homeowner, information was received that a shot had been fired. Officers responded to the residence and located a female in the backyard deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was identified as 23-year-old Ms. Kendra Givens. The North Little Rock Investigations Division responded to interview witnesses and process the scene.
The home owner was interviewed at the North Little Rock Police Department detective division and released later that evening. At this time they are not looking for any suspects. This investigation is still on-going, and more information regarding this incident will be released as it becomes available.
Now there are a couple of things to remember in an incident of this nature, here.
First of all, if you find someone in your backyard, you aren’t operating under the same rules as you would if someone showed up inside your home uninvited.
Call the authorities, as this homeowner did. Be armed, and be prepared to neutralize a threat as necessary.
It certainly helps your case when the entire thing is caught on audio with a 911 operator, too.
