Man Shoots and Hospitalized Girlfriend After She Tries to Kill Him With a Knife

LAKE WORTH, FL — A woman was arrested after being shot by her boyfriend in a domestic violence dispute, WPTV reports.

Apparently, the woman had attempted to kill him with a knife, and when authorities arrived, the man had stab wounds.

According to WPTV:

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said a woman was arrested overnight after a domestic-related shooting and stabbing Tuesday night near Lake Worth.

Deputies said they responded to a domestic dispute between a man and woman at 10:40 p.m. in the 2500 block of 10th Ave. When law enforcement arrived, they found a woman with a gunshot wound to the leg and a man with lacerations from a knife wound.

Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment. PBSO said they determined that the woman, identified as Alicia Figueroa, 29, of Boynton Beach was the aggressor. She was arrested and charged with aggravated battery and aggravated assault.

Often, when we think of instances of domestic violence or abuse, we assume that it’s a man causing harm to a woman. There’s a reason for that — the amount of times a man is physically abusive to a woman is grossly higher than the amount of times the roles are reversed.

But don’t forget that it can absolutely be the other way around, and sometimes can be so bad that the man has to defend himself with deadly force, as seen here.

Crime is an equal opportunity business.
