Armed Robbery Interrupted By Armed Citizen

Worcester, Massachusetts police say that 20-year-old Jeremy Cintron worked as an aspiring armed robber. Potentially voted “Most Likely to Be Imprisoned” by his high school class, Cintron knew the Bay State’s onerous gunlaws keep most of his potential victim pool disarmed. He didn’t count on a witness having a gun though.

From WHDH TV:

Worcester police officers responding to a reported fight involving a gun on Seymour Street about 6:36 p.m. were met by a 47-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman who said they were on their way home when they saw a man holding a woman at gunpoint.

Fearing for the woman’s safety, the couple said the man pulled out a gunand pointed it at the robber, police said.

Police say that at about 6:36pm on Sunday, a 47-year-old concealed carry licensee and his girlfriend observed Cintron robbing a 29-year-old woman with an H&R 9-shot rim fire revolver. Right away, the CCW holder drew his own firearm and challenged the robber.  At first, Cintron tried to bluff the good Samaritan into backing off. Soon though, he wisely surrendered to the bigger gun and the very determined man behind it.

While the girlfriend called police, the CCW holder made the mistake of trying to pin the punk to the ground.

After ordering to the ground, the man said he put his knee on his back and pushed the gun away from him while his girlfriend called the police. While waiting for the police to arrive, the man said Cintron struggled with him and fired a round into the pavement while grabbing for his gun.

Cintron escaped from the CCW holder, sans gun, but police caught up with him minutes later.

Thankfully, nobody suffered any serious injuries.

Mr. Cintron, now permanently without his H&R Model 929 .22 revolver, faces a long list of charges. They include discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, armed assault with intent to rob, witness intimidation, possession of a firearm without a LTC, unlawful carrying of a loaded firearm, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.  Apparently Worcester, MA does not have a Chicago-style criminal justice system.

On the other hand, the CCW holder received thanks from both police and the would-be victim for his selfless act.
