Armed Robbery Turns Shootout, 4 People Injured

ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI — When a pair of thugs tried to rob a man and a woman in broad daylight, the resulting firefight saw four people injured, including one bystander who had nothing to do with the incident.

What’s worse is that one of the two thugs got away.

As the Saint Louis Post-Dispatch reports:

It started when a man and woman, 23 and 37, walked out of Euclid Market at 2318 Euclid Avenue about 12:15 p.m. Sunday. That’s when two robbers armed with handguns tried to rob them, police said.

The male victim pulled out his own gun and exchanged shots with the robbers, police said. Both robbery victims were hit, as was a 24-year-old bystander inside the market, police said. It’s not clear who fired the shot that injured her.

The robbers ran off. But a 17-year-old with a gunshot wound later showed up at a hospital, and police believe he was one of the robbers. He was taken into custody, police said.

This is tricky. The concealed carrier did the best he could, considering the circumstances, but three innocent people were shot.

So, what went wrong?

Well, two things, really.

First of all, if you have two guns on you, even if they are some dumb thugs holding them, you officially do not have the advantage. The only way to get that advantage back is to capitalize on others’ mistakes and to make no mistakes yourself, which comes to the second issue:

Training. Get yourself some good, quality training.

Some people refer to training as a fix-all, and it’s really not. But it is absolutely the place to start, because far few people get good, qulity training every year.

The apostle Peter once charged a man to “repent, and be baptized.”

For the concealed carrier, it’s “train, study, and apply for your concealed carry permit (where applicable), then get training.”

It’s that important.
