CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — A concealed carrier was sitting in a car with an acquaintance when two armed criminals approached the car and attempted to rob them. The concealed carrier drew his pistol and shot one of the robbers and the other one fled. Chicago police have confirmed that he had a valid permit to carry a concealed handgun and are treating the case as a justifiable self-defense.
According to DNAinfo, a Chicago Police spokeswoman gave a barebones account of the incident with no follow-up information other than the robber succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.
In the perpetual crime cycle of Chicago, it’s no longer good enough to hope bad guys can’t see you. The only real solution to this problem is to get a permit to carry concealed from the State of Illinois, undergo the training requirements, get that Firearm Owner Identification Card, and carry every single day you are physically capable of doing so.
Armed thugs don’t worry about whether their firearm is in Condition 1 or 3. Half of them probably don’t even know what type of handgun they’re carrying. But they’re predators and if you look like a meal, they’ll circle like hyenas.
