Oklahoma House Says OK To Handguns In Schools Carried By Trained Personnel

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA — The Oklahoma House voted in favor of new legislation 82-12 that would allow trained personnel to carry on school grounds. The legislation’s next stop is on Gov. Mary Fallin’s desk.

The bill by Republican Rep. Jeff Coody of Grandfield says a school district’s board of education can designate a school employee to attend an armed security guard training program or reserve peace officer program and pay for the training.

Fallin’s office was not immediately available for comment when asked if she would sign it, but she has previously backed gun rights expansion in the state.
