Concealed Carrier In The .01% Of Irresponsible Permit Holders Is Arrested; We Wait For The Media To Spin This As Quickly As Possible

MOUNT PLEASANT, WISCONSIN — A man with a concealed carry permit did something stupid; he allegedly pointed his firearm at someone during a confrontation in which he seems to be the instigator. Let’s take a look at the charges filed:

  • OWI (Operating While Intoxicated)
  • operating with a prohibited alcohol concentration
  • endangering safety by intentionally pointing a firearm at another
  • endangering safety: armed while intoxicated

Anyone can call the police and say that anything is happening, regardless as to whether it’s true or not. In this case however, the fact that the man was deemed intoxicated would lead me to believe that the 911 caller was justified in his reporting of the incident. Here is what police say happened:

Officers arrived and spoke with the 911 caller who reported he was washing his car with his two young children when a 37-year-old Racine man drove into the parking lot at a high rate of speed. An argument ensued over the suspect’s driving, and the caller told police that’s when the man pointed a gun at him while his young children were present.

Now, because of this irresponsible concealed carry permit holder, we’ll wait for the media and groups like Moms Demand Action to spin this out of proportion, since people like this make up an extremely small percentage of overall concealed carriers across the country.

We’ll wait to hear how dangerous people are with firearms, and hear about how concealed carriers pose a daily danger to us all, and we’ll wait to hear what they suggest doing so that firearms don’t end up in the hands of people like this idiot.

I’d take a guess to say that for every idiot with a concealed carry permit, there are thousands of responsible folks like you and I. But statistics don’t matter, it’s all about perception.

Just one person can ruin it for us all. That is something that will never change. All we can do is make sure that we are upstanding citizens, and go out of our way to be as safe and as responsible as possible.
