The PA Doctor Who Stopped A Mass Shooting This Week Is Praised By Police Chief

Who would have thought that a good guy with a gun could stop a bad guy with a gun. We have all along, so this is for those still in doubt.

If you’ve been following along, a Doctor in Pennsylvania exchanged gun fire with a mentally unstable man in his office on hospital grounds. The Doctor successfully stopped the threat, but not before a woman was killed by the shooter. However, the Police Chief believes that there is no doubt he saved lives.

The doctor, who suffered a wound to his head, “faced a situation where his life was in jeopardy,” (Police Chief) Whelan said. He was expected to be interviewed by detectives late Thursday.

The hospital has a policy barring anyone except on-duty law enforcement officers from carrying a weapon anywhere on its campus, a spokeswoman for the Mercy Health System said.

But Yeadon Police Chief Donald Molineux said that “without a doubt, I believe the doctor saved lives.”

“Without that firearm, this guy (the patient) could have went out in the hallway and just walked down the offices until he ran out of ammunition,” the chief said.

We’ll point out again that the hospital has a policy of not allowing firearms on the grounds by anyone other than on duty law enforcement. With this policy, the Doctor faces disciplinary action which can include the loss of his job and medical license.

This incident should be a wake up call to those that still support gun free zones. Yet again, we see a criminal that doesn’t obey the law. He walks into a building that rests comfortably in a gun free zone. Luckily, the law-abiding Doctor is smart enough to know that these zones have no effect, and put his safety into his own hands by having his firearm with him.
