Armed Man Shot And Killed After Trying To Force His Way Into Apartment

PORTLAND, OREGON — A man is dead after police say he was shot by a person on the other side of the door that he was trying to break down. 41-year-old Omar Greely was reportedly trying to force his way into the apartment, and was armed with a gun and fired a shot, before being shot by the occupant.

The shooting happened at 10:52 a.m. Monday at an apartment on Northeast 66th Avenue near Broadway. PPB said the person who shot and killed Greely called 911, stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Police said they’re not identifying the shooter at this time.

No charges have been filed.

Based on news reports, it is not clear whether the occupant and Greely knew each other.
