[WHY I CARRY] Man Stabs Two Men At Bus Stop When They Tell Him They Aren’t Muslim

Two men were waiting at a bus stop when they were approached by 39-year-old Terrence Lavaron Thomas, who asked them if they were Muslim. The two men responded ‘no’, and that’s when Thomas started attacking them with a knife.

Southfield police said that at about 10:30 p.m. last Saturday they responded to the mall at 21500 Northwestern Highway on a report of an assault. A 52-year-old Detroit man was found to have stab wounds to the head, neck and back and a 51-year-old Detroit man was stabbed in the hand.

Both victims were treated at Providence Hospital for non-life threatening wounds and released, according to Deputy Chief Nick Loussia.

The outcome of this attack could have been much worse, and the two victims were lucky to get away with non-life threatening injuries. Details are slim as to what caused the attack to stop, but I’m sure that if one of those two men had been carrying a firearm, the attack would have stopped even sooner than it did.

When encountering people in public, always be mindful of the distance between yourself and them. The extra second you have to react could be the difference between going home and a trip to the hospital. Situational awareness, always.

Now for me, this isn’t a religious thing. It’s a crazy person thing. This attack happened because Thomas is mentally unstable.

Speaking of Thomas, he was found shortly after the incident with two knives and taken into custody. He was charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder, carrying a concealed weapon with intent and possession of marijuana.
