MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA — A young man is dead after police say a suspect shot him as he was having dinner with his family. It was a random and senseless attack, of which the suspect blames being high on mushrooms.
Tamarius Blair Davis Jr., 22, of Norcross, Georgia, told investigators he shot Dustin Wakefield, 21, on Tuesday night because he “was high on mushrooms, which made him feel empowered,” according to his arrest report.
Wakefield was randomly targeted by Davis, and as he was looking down the barrel of Davis’ gun, he put himself between Davis and his 1-year-old son.
Wakefield made the ultimate sacrifice to save his son’s life, and what happened directly after the shooting stunned witnesses..
In a short video taken immediately after the shooting and obtained by WSVN-TV, the gunman can be seen dancing while people are heard screaming. The gunman then walks up some steps, the weapon in his hand.

Video shows the suspect not having a care in the world, and then being taken into custody by police.
This is a terrible tragedy which makes no sense, and it’s unfortunately why we’re here to promote responsible citizens being armed and prepared for such terrible circumstances.
