SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — An argument between two people started in the parking lot of a bar, and ended with gun fire from a pair of security guards who witnessed the near-death experience of a man being dragged underneath a vehicle.
Police said the shooting happened after a 25-year-old woman hit a man with her truck, dragging him through the Villages of Ingram Park shopping center parking lot just before 2 a.m.
Two security guards saw what was happening and drew their firearms, shooting at the truck’s driver. They hit their mark and the truck ran into another truck before coming to a stop. The female driver was shot in neck and arm, and was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The man who was dragged was able to get up and run, but eventually collapsed. He was taken to the hospital in serious condition and is expected to survive.
Using a vehicle to run someone over is definitely grounds for lethal force, and in this case that’s exactly what happened.
Had those armed security guards not been there to witness what they did –and act as they did– the man may very well have left in a body bag.
