Unarmed Man Shot in Arm and Leg, Proceeds to Disarm and Kill Attacker With Own Gun

CLAIRTON, PA — A man was shot and killed after the man he intended to kill with his handgun couldn’t be bothered by a mere bullet to the arm and leg, and wrestled the gun away.

The would-be murderer was shot in the head and killed by his own gun.

As Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 reports:

One person is dead and another is in the hospital after a shooting in Clairton on Wednesday evening, Allegheny County police said.

Two victims were found behind the Family Dollar Store along Miller Avenue, police said. The first was a 40-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to a local hospital where he died from his wounds and was identified by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner as Eric Turner.

The second was a 42-year-old male who had a gunshot wound to the leg and arm. Police said that victim was driven to a local hospital in a private vehicle and transferred to a trauma center. Detectives said they believe the men were involved in an argument and .the 40-year-old man shot the 42-year-old.

A physical altercation ensued during which the 42 year old man gained control of the handgun and fired it once, striking the 40 year old, police said. The 42 year old was cooperative with detectives.

“The two individuals who were wounded were the only participants. We believe the person who is deceased brought the firearm and shot at the other person. That person disarmed him and shot in his own defense,” Allegheny County Police Lt. Andrew Schurman reported according to KDKA.

The intended victim was hospitalized, but was not in any life-threatening condition.

Now, these wounds could easily have been avoided with a concealed carry handgun. That being said — holy smokes. I hope I’m as tough as this guy if I ever need to be.
