As questions go in the 2nd Amendment category, this one is tricky and will spawn passionate discussion from both sides.
Over in the USACarry.com forum, user nogods popped the question:
Should people be required to know concealed carry laws before getting a permit?
Assuming that someone is ok with the whole permitting process anyway, and the laws that come with concealed carry, I feel it’s the responsibility of anyone carrying concealed to familiarize themselves with the laws so that they’re educated.
But a requirement? No. It’s not a requirement to know all the traffic laws before receiving your drivers license. You take a test, drive a car for a few minutes to show the instructor you don’t hit things and boom, you get your license.
Any responsible gun owner, in my book, is going to (and should) educate themselves on the laws of their state and anywhere else they plan to travel. Like it or not, the laws are on the books. If you don’t like them, as a responsible gun owner, you should be taking steps to have the laws changed/removed verses knowingly breaking them.
What say you? Should it be required to know the concealed carry laws before getting your permit?
