Assembly Approves Bill That Would Allow Soldiers To Carry Concealed

MADISON, WISCONSIN — The assembly overwhelmingly voted in favor of allowing soldiers to carry concealed who were stationed in Wisconsin.

Right now, the state cannot issue a concealed carry permit to someone who is not a resident of the state. Under the proposed bill, anyone in the armed forces and stationed in Wisconsin for at least a year would be eligible for the permit.

The Assembly passed the bill 91-8 on Tuesday. It goes next to the state Senate.

Allowing soldiers to carry firearms on base seems like a no-brainer to me, especially considering they have come under attack as recently as a few days ago. It’s not the first and it won’t be the last.
